|Working Title||Research Assistant/PREP Scholar|
This staff position is associated with the UNM Post-baccalaureate Research and Education Program (PREP), thus only those individuals applying to PREP should file an application. Successful applicants for this position will be supported for a one-year non-renewable term subject to satisfactory performance in the program.
Provides technical assistance, as assigned, in the collection, processing, and coordination of data, samples, and/or specimens for a specified research study or group of studies. Works within established research protocol and under specific instructions as to method, process, and technique to perform or assist with routine tests, experiments, and/or procedures relevant to the field of study.
Under general supervision, performs standardized and/or prescribed data collection and analytical procedures for a specified life sciences field research study. Collects and prepares data, biological samples, and/or specimens, and conducts a variety of standardized tests and/or analyses in accordance with detailed protocol and procedural specifications. Participates as appropriate in the interpretation of field research data and in the publication, and/or presentation of results.

Vocational-Technical Training directly related Life Sciences field; at least 1 year of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.
Demonstrate a commitment to pursuing a Ph.D. in a biomedical research field.
Be a recipient of a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
|Additional Requirements||Applications will be accepted throughout the year for students wishing to enter the program. However, we anticipate a major intake in May/June 2021, corresponding to the first month after the date of undergraduate graduation. Each student wishing to be considered for entry in PREP@UNM will be required to prepare and submit documents listed above.Incomplete applications with missing or omitted required documents will not be reviewed.|
