Are you a veteran who loves math? UNM Taos seeks a three-quarter time Education Support Coordinator for the Veterans Upward Bound (VUB) Program. Successful candidate must be able to teach adults to test into college-level math and English. Education Support Coordinator will also recruit veterans in multiple northern counties. Frequent travel in northern New Mexico is required. Preferred qualifications: Veteran with a Bachelor’s degree and experience teaching higher-level math and English to adults. Strong math and interpersonal skills are essential. Please describe in your detailed cover letter how you meet our preferred qualifications.

Veterans Upward Bound (VUB) supports veterans to transition seamlessly from the military into academic settings to improve their chances of successfully completing postsecondary education. VUB students participate in the program before entering post-secondary education. Job duties include:

  1. Provide instruction on high-level math and English curriculum to veterans
  2. Schedule, organize and provide short-term academic instruction
  3. Develops and maintains records/databases on services and student progress
  4. Recruit veteran students and coordinate registration/intake and assessment
  5. Collect and analyze data; prepare scheduled and special reports; maintain student/program/project records in support of VUB interim and annual performance reports
  6. Frequent travel to other communities in support of curricular activities and recruitment

Conditions of Employment
Minimum Qualifications

High School diploma or GED; at least 5 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.

Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.

Preferred Qualifications

· Bachelor's degree

· Experience teaching higher level math and English

· Strong interpersonal, oral and written communication skills

Additional RequirementsFrequent travel in northern New Mexico is required.
