Position Summary

UNM's Transportation Safety Center is seeking an Admin Assistant 3 to be responsible for administering the correspondence driver education school program under the direct supervision of the UNM Transportation Safety Center Program Manager.

Duties will include the following:

  • Receive correspondence driver education school applications.
  • Ensure applications comply with New Mexico Administrative Code requirements.
  • Communicate either by telephone or email with parents for those applications requiring additional documentation, or denial or approval of applications.
  • Communicate either by telephone or email with correspondence driver education school operators.
  • May also communicate either by telephone or email with public school authorities or other state agencies.
  • Will maintain spreadsheets listing correspondence school driver education applications.
  • Will prepare quarterly reports to the program manager summarizing program activity.
  • Will assist departmental with training evolutions, including any other duties as assigned by the program manager.

  • This position is represented by a labor union and is subject to the terms and conditions of the USUNM Collective Bargaining Agreement.
  • If this position is assigned to the Athletics Department, either administratively or functionally, compliance with all NCAA rules and regulations is required.
Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or GED; at least 5 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.

Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Excellent writing and communication skills
  • Experience with understanding and application of rules, regulations, policies or procedures.
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast paced environment
  • Strong skills in MS Office- The ability to build and develop Excel spreadsheets using formulas for research and expense tracking, advanced knowledge of Word to include mail merges, tables, etc. and proficient skills in MS PowerPoint.
