Education Program Coordinator
at Alzheimer's Association
The Education Program Coordinator is responsible for volunteer recruitment, management, supervision, and delegation of volunteer delivered education presentations for the Central Ohio Chapter 14 county service areas. These are Association common program educational presentations for care partners, individuals living with dementia, family and general audiences in the chapter territory. The Education Program Coordinator also provides education as required by our grant funders either directly or indirectly through volunteers.
- Provide volunteer coordination and oversight of educational programs including planning, budgeting, monitoring and evaluation.
- Responsible for recruiting, ongoing training, coaching, and mentoring volunteers.
- Researches and identifies emerging education needs to be addressed and training topics to be presented.
- Plans and implements caregiver education in the chapter territory through strategic outreach and public initiatives.
- Oversees evaluation process for all educational programs - maintains records and statistics, and completes reports as assigned.
- Coordinates community education requests for volunteers and assigning delivery schedules.
- Works with the program director in development and implementation of caregiver educational programs to reach underserved populations.
- Raises awareness of Association educational programs in outer counties by meeting with community members in the aging network as able.
- Networks with stakeholders and community influencers towards increasing public Alzheimer’s disease knowledge targeting audiences throughout the chapter territory and continuously identifying new audiences to receive training.
- Collaborates with appropriate staff in the creation of materials, including marketing communication and visual aids for all educational programs.
- Planning and implementation of annual or quarterly community education events that align with our association pillars as requested.
- Bachelor’s degree in social work, education or another related human services field.
- Outstanding verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Three years of experience aging services in the community and volunteer management.
- Expertise in providing public education, educational programming, information and referral, community outreach.
- Knowledgeable about caregiving issues and experience with family dynamics is essential.
Required knowledge, skills and abilities
- Ability to work with caregivers, individuals living with Alzheimer’s, families, volunteers and external contacts.
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple priorities.
- Ability to work with individuals from all socio-economic, racial, and ethnic groups.
- Ability to communicate effectively in person, in writing and electronically to a variety of audiences.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, especially Word, Excel, and Power Point.
Position Working Conditions
- Ability to fulfill assignments on evenings and weekends as needed.
- Travel by car to attend meetings within the chapter territory.
- Possession of valid driver’s license and use of personal insured vehicle required.
