Overview
Unit Coordinators provide administrative and clerical support of clinical services in a behavioral health setting. The Unit Coordinator is responsible for patient registration process, insurance verification, preparing discharge packets, tracking of unit census and coordination with clinical staff to ensure the efficient functioning of the unit.

Responsibilities

  • Greets individuals/families seeking care by providing a welcoming environment and excellent customer service.
  • Registers individuals for services, including verification of AHCCCS eligibility, enrollment with the RBHA, and/or confirmation of other third party insurers.
  • Collects appropriate authorizations and release of information documents.
  • Opens episode of care in electronic health record with accuracy and efficiency
  • Upon discharge, closes the episode of care
  • Coordinates with other providers to assist with the discharge and/or transfers.
  • Obtains clinical records/documents as requested.
  • Communicates information to physicians, nurses and clinical team members.
  • Liaison to all departments and is the key communication link between multiple disciplines associated with individual care and the smooth functioning of the unit.
  • Coordinates the ordering of patient meals, equipment, and supplies with facility staff.
  • Answers in-coming telephone calls.
  • Directs calls to appropriate staff as needed
  • Organizes and maintains unit supplies necessary for daily activities.


Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Knowledge of principles of recovery.
  • Knowledge of Arizona system principles
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills, with a collaborative style and the ability to communicate effectively at all levels.
  • Healthcare system experience; preferably multi-entity.
  • Proficient in Electronic Health Record (EHR) and Microsoft Office software.
